Sir,
It forming part of my instructions not to suffer any article appertaining to Longwood, to quit this island without examining the same, I think it proper to acquaint you, that I can make no exception whatsoever to the general rule which has been laid down for my guidance on this head, but have to desire, that the whole of what is meant to be conveyed from hence, may be exhibited to me. I shall then have the honour, of acquainting you, as to any form in which it may be allowed to depart.
