I have to acquaint you that Madame de Montholon has recently applied to me to permit two cooks to proceed to St. Helena for the purpose of entering into the service of General Bonaparte and having received satisfactory testimonials as to the character and qualifications of these individuals (Louis Chandelier and Claude Perrasset[^1]) I have authorized them to proceed to the island by way of the Cape of Good Hope.[^2]
