Sir,
I am directed by Lord Bathurst to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 7<sup>th</sup> instant and to acquaint you that the case of books therein alluded to, addressed to Messrs Bonavita, Antommarchi and Vignali, will be forwarded by some vessel to the Cape of Good Hope, from whence it will be transmitted to St. Helena.
Lord Bathurst desires me at the same time to inform you that in future, requisitions from the residents at Longwood for similar articles, will be required to be made to this department, from whence they will be forwarded, on the funds for payment of them being duly provided.
