texte en markdown<h1><span style="font-family:Chivo;font-size:60%;line-height:1;"><b>71_Masson_SH -</b> HUDSON LOWE AU COMTE MONTHOLON</span></h1> <h2 data-kind="letter-context;" style="text-align: right; font-size: 1em; font-weight: normal">Plantation House, 31<sup>st</sup> January 1821</h2> The instructions under which the governor is acting place him under the indispensable necessity of returning the enclosed paper, on account of the use in it of the imperial title. The governor had already the honour of acquainting Count Montholon that he should not fail to make known to the British Government the propositions which formed the subject of his communication to the governor on the 27<sup>th</sup> instant, and the governor now desires to add, that he shall not omit to avail himself of the more specific information which the enclosed paper has conveyed upon some of the points that were then spoken of, to render the report to his government regarding them, as full & exact as possible.[^1] Hudson Lowe, Lieutenant General [^1]: Expédition, Bibliothèque Thiers, fonds Masson, carton 8, fol. 307.
